Selection Process

Selection Process

Candidates are selected based on scholastic achievement and business experience, demonstrated leadership interest in obtaining international experience and ability to thrive in a high pressure environment.

Applications usually open in April and close at the end of May each year. All applicants must complete an online application form. The Independent Selection Panel will invite shortlisted candidates to interview. Interviews will take place at Catalyst Inc. in Belfast on July 6th and 7th 2017. The Independent Selection Panel will consider candidates’ academic achievements and business experience, recommendation letter (from the primary referee listed on your application) and personal qualities.

Once a candidate is selected into the program, the Program Coordinator will work with the participant to try to find an appropriate fit at a US-based corporation. It is important to note that all hiring decisions are based on the final approval of the participating corporation. Participating corporations may conduct phone interviews and background checks as required and may decline to offer the position to shortlisted candidates. All participants must meet all US visa requirements.

Please note that acceptance onto the US-NI Mentorship Program does not guarantee that you will be offered a placement.

Our expectation is that, on being offered a placement with a host company, candidates will accept. Once you are offered a placement with a participating company, we will help you secure your visa. Placements usually run for a full calendar year from January to December.
